يعتبر الدكتور سمير عبد الغفار من رواد الأشعة التداخلية فى الشرق الاوسط و يعمل حاليا استشارى فى وحدة الاشعة التداخلية فى كلية طب جامعة عين شمس. هو من اول من بدأ توعية عامة فى المنطقة العربية بالعلاجات الحديثة بدون جراحة بإستخدام الاشعة التداخلية و اول من ادخل بنجاح علاج اورام الرحم الليفية (الياف الرحم) بالقسطرة فى مصر و قام بنشر ابحاث طبية عديدة و أدى ذلك الى توسيع قاعدة العلاج بهذا الاسلوب الحديث.
تميز الدكتور سمير عبد الغفار فى العديد من عمليات الاشعة التداخلية مثل التردد الحرارى و الحقن الشريانى بالقسطرة لعلاج اورام الكبد و كذلك علاج دوالى الساقين بالليزر. بعد عودته من فرنسا نشرت العديد من الصحف و المجلات مقالات عن الدكتور / سمير عبد الغفار و الجديد فى العلاج بالأشعة التداخلية تجدها فى "أخبار ومقالات ".
تم دعوة الدكتور سمير عبد الغفار لإلقاء العديد من المحاضرات فى المؤتمرات الطبية و الندوات العلمية عن دوره فى تحديث العلاج التداخلى منها محاضرات عن علاج أورام الرئة الخبيثة بأحدث الطرق مثل التردد الحرراى و التى كانت جزء من رسالته فى الدكتوراة.
تم دعوة الدكتور سمير عبد الغفار للعديد من المقابلات التلفزيونية فى عدة قنوات فضائية مثل ال MBC, Dream TV, Sehaty و قناة الصحة و الجمال و سوف يوضع رابط لبعض هذه الحلقات قريبا إن شاء الله للمشاهدة من خلال الموقع.

- تخرج الدكتور / سمير عبد الغفار عام 1994 من كلية الطب – جامعة عين شمس بتقدير عام إمتياز مع مرتبة الشرف .
- حصل على شهادة ماجستير الأشعة عام 1998 من كلية الطب – جامعة عين شمس .
- حصل على شهادة الدكتوراة فى الأشعة عام 2004 من كلية الطب – جامعة عين شمس. إلتحق الدكتور سمير عبد الغفار بوحدة الأشعة التداخلية منذ عام 2001 حيث يعمل بها الآن كإستشارى فى العلاج التداخلى بدون جراحة .
- سافر الدكتور / سمير عبد الغفار إلى فرنسا عام 2005 للتدريب و إكتساب الخبرة بمستشفى جابريل مٌونتبيية الجامعى بمدينة كليرمونت فيران.
